I am a multi-faceted illustrator with a range of styles, all with a heavy dash of dark humour - a homage to my Afrikaans roots.
After studying Graphic Design & Illustration in Cape Town, I drove my unreliable Renault 5 to Johannesburg and spent my formative years honing my conceptual skills as an award-winning Art Director and later Creative Director. During this time, I worked in some of South Africa’s best advertising agencies, including the infamous TBWA Hunt Lascaris. After many years in agencies, I gave up the bad pitch food, never ending meetings, late-night shoots and corporate cabs, to follow my first love, illustration.
Since then, I has lived in three countries, had exhibitions in South Africa and Australia, designed costumes for a rock opera, created book covers for best-selling authors, illustratedpicture books, designed a T-shirt for Hilary Clinton, created products and done a whole lot of other stuff in between.
Currently, I'm based in Auckland, New Zealand, please feel free to contact me to talk about your potential projects. I'm always available to dicuss any ideas you might have - no matter how big or small they might be.
